In the same way that a psychologist can sometimes be quick to impose their own diagnosis of their patient’s issues, coaches can make assumptions that they know and understand your problems before you do. However, Trudy’s style is to listen deeply and ask a series of questions that facilitate you coming to your own “ah ha” moments and solutions. From coaching with Trudy, I have a stronger connection to what my instincts were telling me, when I had fallen out of touch with them because of the many demands in my routine, expectations of others and pressures. I am so happy to have finally gained clarity about the things that were making me feel stuck.
My practice was having personnel issues. As the boss, I was having trouble managing these issues while trying to find and maintain the proper balance between a professional relationship and having a warm, friendly, personable atmosphere at work. Through coaching with Trudy, I was able to honestly express my constructive criticism of my office manager but in a positive way. This open, helpful criticism and running a couple of honest meetings led to changes in the office which significantly improved the atmosphere, and restored proper balance to the professionalism and relationships in the management team as well as the junior staff. Coaching with Trudy was helpful in developing my understanding of my approach to managing my team. I gained valuable insight into my own behavior and emotional reactions to situations in the office with my staff. Trudy's style is supportive, professional, positive, and I have absolute certainty that I would lean on her again for help with possible issues in the future.
I was fortunate to work with Trudy for her 12 week coaching package through an employer sponsorship. I'm an IP Manager managing a team of employees, and completed the coaching with many positive outcomes. Trudy helped me gain self-awareness. Learning more about myself was a big part of Trudy's coaching technique. Working with Trudy has allowed me the ability to make a conscious effort to change how I think and speak, which makes me feel better about myself. This experience has also helped me change how I interact with my staff, as I learned how to be more assertive, proactive and deliver positive feedback to the best of my ability. At the core, I let go of some of the fear I had around confrontation, and I no longer stress the way I used to about how I may come across to others.
